NHS Approves Diabetes Digital Media’s App

January 8, 2019

The UK’s National Health Service accepted Diabetes Digital Media’s Low Carb Program software application and is now offering it as a treatment option for patients with type 2 diabetes.

The Low Carb Program received CE Mark approval in June 2018. More than 380,000 individuals have gone through the program which is estimated to save the NHS £835 ($1,064) per person, per year in prescription costs.

The app is now listed under NHS Digital’s list of applications, to help patients with type 2 diabetes make lifestyle changes, such as through dieting. The app is available on both Apple’s iOS and Android devices.

According to the company, one in four patients who use the app will put their type 2 diabetes into remission.
