FDA Approves Zydus’ Blood Pressure Tablets

January 18, 2019

The FDA approved Indian drugmaker Zydus Cadila’s amlodipine and atorvastatin combination drug for treating high blood pressure and lowering cholesterol.

Amlodipine is used to lower blood pressure and relieve chest pain, while atorvastatin is used alongside dieting and exercising to fight cholesterol by blocking an enzyme required for its production. The approval covers various strengths and dosages of the tablets.

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, India, Zydus Cadila is India’s fourth largest drugmaker and a significant manufacturer of generic drugs.
