Hologic’s Breast Lesion Localization System Gains CE Mark

Hologic received the CE Mark for its LOCalizer wireless breast lesion localization system, a device used to mark and target breast lesions for breast-conserving surgery.

After the LOCalizer tag is implanted in the patient, it can be detected with an accompanying handheld, portable reader that shows its location and distance in millimeters to the lesion.

The device enables surgeons to identify the area of breast tissue to be removed and allows patients more flexibility in appointment scheduling, as the tag can be implanted up to 30 days before surgery.
