FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb Announces Resignation

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb announced that he will step down in one month.

Gottlieb, who has served as head of the FDA for 23 months, did not specify why he’s chosen to leave the agency. It is not clear who will fill the role of Commissioner as the administration choses his successor.

Under Gottlieb’s leadership, the agency has explored new pathways for expedited marketing approvals of devices and has encouraged the development of innovative devices.
