UK Promises Clinical Trial Transparency

The UK laid out proposed changes to bring needed sunlight to clinical trials in a policy report released by recently appointed Under Secretary of State for Health, Nicola Blackwood.

The report’s main recommendation is that the government “explicitly commit” to adopting EU rules that will take effect shortly after the UK’s scheduled exit from the EU on March 29.

Last year, it emerged that few UK clinical trials were sharing their data publicly and the government promised to overhaul the regulations. Blackwood’s report responds to a report on research integrity by the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee.
