Pursuit Vascular’s Barrier Caps Cleared for Killing Catheter Bacteria

Pursuit Vascular received the CE Mark for its ClearGuard HD cap, a device designed to kill bacteria in hemodialysis catheters that can cause infections.

Each barrier cap has a rod coated with a dry form of chlorhexidine, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, that dissolves when it comes in contact with the liquid-filled catheter.

Bloodstream infections from catheters are a leading cause for hospitalization in hemodialysis patients.
