Connecticut AG’s Suit Adds to Pharma’s Summer of Discontent

July 3, 2019

Forty-eight states were involved in a price-fixing investigation that has now led to multi-state and multimillion-dollar litigation against some of the largest generics makers, a newly revealed complaint shows.

Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has convinced the attorneys general in 39 other states to join the lawsuit against nearly three-dozen generics makers or executives, including Teva, Actavis, Pfizer and Mylan.

Tong announced the suit in May but only unsealed the unredacted complaint last week. It shows that nearly every state in the union has opened investigations into whether the companies coordinated efforts to keep generic drug prices artificially — and illegally — high.
