Beckton Dickinson Recalls Syringe Administration Set

July 5, 2019

Beckton Dickinson recalled nearly 3,000 SmartSite syringe administration sets manufactured in April 2018, citing a risk of leakage.

The devices are used with infusion pumps to deliver fluids such as medications, blood and blood products into a patient’s veins or other approved routes of administration. Their primary use is in neonatal intensive care units, where they are used in critical therapies.

The risks of leaking could lead to under-infusion of critical drugs, delayed or halted infusions and contaminated fluid pathways.
