Danish Medicines Agency Cracks Down on Conflicts of Interest

July 12, 2019

Employees of the Danish Medicines Agency will no longer be allowed to own shares in drug or device companies, the regulator announced.

Existing staff members have been asked to get rid of any currently owned shares within two years. Newly hired employees as of July 4 must divest any shares they own before joining the agency.

“We wish to send a clear signal to the world that the Danish Medicines Agency is disconnected from economic interests of pharmaceutical and medical device companies,” said Thomas Senderovitz, the agency’s director general.
