Hamilton Medical Recalls Ventilator Units

Hamilton Medical recalled certain units of its Hamilton-G5 Ventilator over an error that turns the systems off.

The company said the error occurs when communication is blocked or terminated between the ventilator unit and the interaction panel processor, which causes a user error message and shuts down the device, which is used in the intensive care ventilation of adults and pediatric patients.

Hamilton Medical issued a software patch to fix the problem and noted that no reports of patient injury or harm were reported.
