GE Healthcare Pulls Infant Warmers

GE Healthcare recalled tens of thousands of its Giraffe and Panda i-Res infant warmers and warned healthcare providers to check the bedside panels and latch areas.

The FDA announced that 338 complaints were filed about malfunctions of the panels, which seemed to stem from weak latches. Two infants fell from the warmers and fractured their skulls, but there were no fatalities.

“If any portion of the bedside panels or latches are cracked or broken, stop using the warmer. If the warmer bedside panels have no cracks or damage, you may continue to use the warmer,” the FDA said.
