Integra LifeSciences Acquires Arkis Bio and Its EVD Catheter

Medical technology company Integra LifeSciences has purchased Arkis Biosciences and its line of neurosurgical devices, including an external ventricular (EVD) drainage catheter, for an undisclosed sum.

Through the acquisition, Integra gains Arkis’ CerebroFlo EVD catheter with Endexo technology, a permanent device used in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) drainage that reduces the chance of catheter obstruction from thrombus formation.

“EVD catheters are used in combination with a variety of EVD systems for external drainage of CSF to manage elevated intracranial pressure in patients with acute brain injury and hydrocephalus,” Integra said.
