ExThera Gains CE Mark for Blood Filter

August 7, 2019

ExThera’s Seraph 100 Microbind Affinity Blood Filter has earned the CE Mark as an adjunct to anti-infective therapy for reducing pathogens in bloodstream infections.

The sorbent-type blood filter removes cytokines and endotoxins and can lower the concentration of bacteria, viruses and fungi in the blood.

In pre-clinical and clinical testing, the filter “was able to significantly reduce the concentration of both drug-susceptible and drug-resistant pathogens, providing a long-awaited adjunctive therapy for bloodstream infections,” ExThera said.
