Health Canada Releases Guidance on Plain Language Labeling

August 13, 2019

Health Canada released new guidelines to help prescription drug companies comply with the agency’s plain language labeling requirements.

The guidance includes simplified explanations of label mock-up requirements and examples of acceptable fonts, formatting for expiration dates and lot numbers, and sample contact information.

The agency requires a minimum font size of nine points for inner and outer labels — including any text in tables — but says a larger font size is better when the design permits.
