Purdue Offers Up to $12 Billion Opioid Litigation Settlement

September 5, 2019

Purdue Pharma confirmed that it’s working on a settlement deal to bury thousands of lawsuits alleging the company is responsible for the opioid crisis. While it didn’t confirm a proposed settlement amount, sources close to the talks cited a figure of $10 to $12 billion.

“Purdue believes a constructive global resolution is the best path forward, and the company is actively working with the state attorneys general and other plaintiffs to achieve this outcome,” the drugmaker told FDAnews.

NBC News first reported that the potential deal was brought up in a conversation between Purdue’s legal counsel and city, county and state representatives at a meeting in Cleveland, Ohio.
