Mevion’s CBCT Imaging System Cleared by FDA

Mevion Medical Systems said its partner, Austria-based medPhoton, has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its ImagingRing cone-beam computed tomography imaging platform.

The in-room, ceiling-mounted system is fully integrated into Mevion’s proton therapy system to enable soft tissue localization.

The system works with the proton therapy platform’s Hyperscan pencil beam scanning technology for precise radiation therapy treatments. The collaborators plan to further develop the system to offer ultra large field of view scans.
