Thirteen States Support Ohio Attorney General’s Bid to Block Bellwether Opioid Trial

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost received support from thirteen states in his bid to delay the Oct. 21 opioid bellwether trial in Ohio federal court.

In two briefs filed in the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the 13 states and Washington D.C. echoed Yost’s arguments that the opioid litigation must be handled at the state level because the claims apply to the entire state.

“States are in the best position to enter into global settlements and to protect all communities through statewide implementation of policy and ensuring equitable distribution of available funds,” one brief stated.
