Abbott’s Recharge-Free Spinal Stimulator Gets FDA Approval

Abbott has received the FDA’s greenlight for its Proclaim XR neurostimulation system for patients that are in chronic pain.

The neurostimulator uses low-energy therapy with low-dosing to preserve battery life as it provides pain relief, allowing the battery to last for up to ten years without recharging.

The device uses the company’s BurstDR stimulation waveform technology, which imitates brain patterns and changes pain signals going from the spinal cord to the brain using low doses of mild electrical pulses.
