DiaSorin’s VZV Swab Test Nabs CE Mark
September 26, 2019
DiaSorin Molecular has received the CE Mark for its swab specimen test for detecting varicella-zoster virus (VZV), a herpesvirus that causes chickenpox and shingles.
The Simplexa VZV Swab Direct assay uses both cutaneous and mucocutaneous swab specimens to detect the virus, a worldwide pathogen that most often affects children and young adults.
The diagnostic runs on the company’s Liaison MDX instrument and adds to its herpes simplex test portfolio, which includes an HSV 1 and 2 assay kit.
