FDA Creates Two New Centers for Sentinel Initiative

The FDA is expanding its Sentinel program to include two new centers in addition to the existing operations center.

The Innovation Center will explore new ways to extract information from electronic health records. The Community Building and Outreach Center will focus on stakeholder involvement and increasing access to Sentinel tools.

To establish the innovation and outreach centers, the agency awarded a five-year Sentinel contract for consortiums led by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Deloitte Consulting, respectively.
