House Approves Spending Bill That Would Kill Device Tax

December 19, 2019

The House passed a fiscal 2020 federal budget package that includes a provision to repeal the 2.3 percent medical device excise tax manufacturers and importers pay on certain devices.

AdvaMed hailed the House’s vote as “a huge win for American patients” that would allow the device companies to focus their energy on developing innovative treatments.

The spending package is expected to be considered on the Senate floor Friday, and if passed, would go to the oval office for signing. A temporary budget that keeps the government funded will expire at midnight on Friday.
