FDA Clears FreMon’s Portable Plasma Thawer

FreMon Scientific’s ZipThaw portable plasma thawing system was cleared by the FDA for thawing frozen plasma for patients in need of transfusion.

The device is used with the company’s disposable, leak-proof ZipSleeve containers to thaw fresh frozen plasma and plasma frozen within 24 hours after blood is drawn from a vein.

The system “is proven to preserve coagulation factors needed in life saving transfusion procedures,” the company said.
