270Surgical’s Laparoscope Gets CE Mark

270Surgical’s SurroundScope, the first laparoscopic camera system with a 270-degree field-of-view, has earned the CE Mark.

The device’s expanded field-of-view is expected to “have considerable implications for procedures performed within the disciplines of general surgery, trauma, OBGYN, and thoracic surgery,” the Israeli devicemaker said.

Laparoscopes have typically been restricted to 70 to 90-degree views, a limitation that has led to “tunnel vision” and raised the risk of injury during procedures, the company claimed.
