Paragonix’s Pancreas Transporter Receives FDA Clearance

The FDA granted 510(k) clearance to Paragonix Technologies’ SherpaPak pancreas transport system, a device that protects donated pancreases as they are delivered to their recipients.

The system offers thermal and physical protection to donated pancreases, which are vulnerable to cold and compression injury while they are being taken to the recipients — primarily diabetes patients.

The company said the device is the first and only one cleared by the FDA for safe pancreas transport, offering an alternative to the current method of using an ice cooler.
