Oklahoma AG Files Suit Against Opioid Distributors

January 22, 2020

Oklahoma’s attorney general has filed a lawsuit against drug distributors AmerisourceBergen, Cardinal Health and McKesson for allegedly pumping “massive and unreasonable quantities of opioids” into the state and ignoring warning signs.

AG Mike Hunter claimed that the companies did not sound alarms for suspiciously large orders of opioids. He alleged that they failed to alert state and federal authorities to the large amounts of pain meds being shipped in order to generate more revenue.

“The companies engaged in reckless behavior and need to be held accountable for their role in creating the nation’s worst manmade public health crisis,” Hunter said. The state is seeking compensatory damages.
