FDA Warns of Cybersecurity Risks in Clinical Information Central Stations and Telemetry Servers

The FDA issued a warning about potential cybersecurity vulnerabilities in certain GE Healthcare Clinical Information Central Stations and Telemetry Servers.

The agency said the vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to remotely take control of the deceive to silence alarms, generate false alarms or interfere with the function of patient monitors connected to these devices.

GE Healthcare contacted users of the devices with instructions for mitigating risk and how to receive software updates or patches when they become available.

The issues were identified by a third-party security firm. The agency said it has not received any adverse event reports associated with the vulnerabilities.
