FDA Approves Another Indication for Abbott’s Brain Stimulation System

The FDA has granted an expanded indication for Abbott’s Infinity deep brain stimulation (DBS) device.

The indication allows the device to target the brain’s internal globus pallidus, an area that plays a significant role in motor functions.

Abbott said its directional DBS system is now the only one approved for all major target areas for treating movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor.
