CDC to Distribute Diagnostic Kits for Coronavirus

January 27, 2020

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plan to distribute diagnostic kits for the novel coronavirus that originated in central China.

The CDC’s PCR diagnostic test for the virus takes four to six hours to complete after the sample is prepared. The test is currently focused on respiratory and blood samples.

The agency aims to distribute the diagnostic kits to every state, according to Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.
