Medtronic Nabs CE Mark for Implantable Defibrillators

Medtronic earned CE Mark certification for its Cobalt and Crome implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronization therapy-defibrillators (CRT-Ds).

The ICDs are used to monitor and treat heart rhythms that are too fast and can cause sudden cardiac arrest, while CRT-Ds issue electrical impulses that help synchronize heartbeat patterns and reduce symptoms for certain patients with heart failure.

The devices are able to send the patient data they collect to smartphones and tablets.
