FDA to Study Drug Endorsements by Instagram Influencers
The FDA’s Office of Prescription Drug Promotion plans to study the influence of Instagram endorsers on consumer behavior.
OPDP said it will recruit 698 followers of an unnamed Instagram influencer with more than 500,000 followers who has posted about endometriosis.
The agency will show an advertisement for a fictitious endometriosis product that is flagged as a paid advertisement, as sponsored, or with no payment disclosure. The influencer’s identity will be kept secret, the agency said.
