Baxter Obtains FDA Clearance for Staple Reinforcement Strip

Baxter has received the 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the newest generation of its Peri-Strips Dry with Veritas Collagen Matrix (PSDV) product, a peelable strip that reinforces surgical staples in bariatric surgery.

The device is used to address staple line complications that can occur in bariatric procedures. It has been proven to effectively reduce staple line bleeds and leaks that occur during and after operations, Baxter said.

The strip is applied to the surgical stapler using a pressure-sensitive adhesive strip and can easily manipulate tissue due to its strong adherence.
