Kinepict Receives 510(k) Clearance for Imaging Software

March 11, 2020

The FDA cleared Kinepict Health’s Kinepict Medical Imaging Tool (KMIT) software, which features an algorithm used to visualize blood vessels.

The imaging algorithm uses advanced statistical methods to visualize blood vessels by identifying contrast-induced changes, offering higher image quality compared to digital subtraction angiography, a fluoroscopic technique that also provides an image of blood vessels.

Higher energy x-ray beams generate images with poorer image contrast, but the KMIT software can “overcome the typical trade-off between increased X-ray dose versus increased contrast,” the company said.
