Ra Medical Picks New Chief Executive Officer

California excimer laser system developer Ra Medical has appointed former Medtech head Will McGuire as its new CEO and director.

McGuire most recently served as president and CEO of Advanced Sight Medical Products, a firm that develops implantable visual prosthetics for blind patients. He has also served as device distributor Covidien’s vice president and general manager of patient monitoring, and president and CEO of AtheroMed, an atherectomy system developer.

Ra Medical is currently developing the Dabra excimer laser, an atherectomy device, for treating peripheral vascular stenoses. The company received the FDA’s investigational device exemption in January for a pivotal atherectomy clinical study.
