Abbott’s Coronavirus Test Earns Emergency Clearance

The FDA granted Abbott’s RealTime molecular test for detecting the novel coronavirus has received the FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization.

The tests are run on the devicemaker’s m2000 RealTime system, which can handle up to 470 tests in a day.

Abbott said it will be distributing 150,000 tests immediately and aims to provide up to one million tests per week.
