FDA Grants Emergency Use for N95 Respirator Sterilizers

The FDA granted Advanced Sterilization Products an Emergency Use Authorization for its Sterrad systems that sterilize N95 respirators.

There are almost 10,000 Sterrad systems in hospitals across the U.S. and the authorization will enable decontamination of up to 4 million respirators per day for single-user reuse, the agency said.

“This authorization will help increase the availability of respirators so healthcare workers on the front lines can be better protected,” said FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn.
