Apple, Google Developing COVID-19 Tracing Software

Apple and Google have teamed up to develop a contact-tracing tool to help governments reduce the spread of COVID-19 by identifying who has come in contact with infected patients.

The companies said they will begin by launching application programming interfaces (APIs) in May that will allow devices to communicate via public health authority software apps.

Following that launch, the companies will build a Bluetooth-based contact-tracing platform so individuals can use their devices to interact with health authorities.
