Fujifilm Accelerates Avigan Production for COVID-19

Fujifilm is expanding its manufacturing capacity to boost production of its influenza antiviral Avigan (favipiravir) for treatment of COVID-19.

The Tokyo-based drugmaker plans to increase its monthly production of the drug to 100,000 treatment courses by July and to 300,000 treatment courses by September.

Avigan is currently in clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy as a treatment for COVID-19.
