Roche Prepares to Launch COVID-19 Antibody Test

Roche said it will launch an antibody test for the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus next month.

The Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunoassay uses human serum and plasma from a blood sample to identify antibodies to the virus. The test will run on Roche’s automated cobas e analyzer systems, allowing for its use in hospitals and reference laboratories.

Roche said it expects to receive CE mark certification for the test in early May. It is also seeking an Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA.
