Amazon Funds Columbia University Trial of Plasma Therapy for COVID-19

Amazon gave Columbia University $2.5 million to fund its clinical trial of a possible plasma therapy for the treatment of COVID-19.

The university’s Center for Infection and Immunity is conducting the trial to determine if plasma from COVID-19 survivors can be used to prevent infections and whether it can treat severe COVID-19 patients.

The trial will involve 450 individuals, including close contacts of COVID-19 patients, healthcare workers and intensive care unit patients.
