Shionogi Joins Race to Find COVID-19 Treatments and Vaccines

Shionogi has entered the race to develop COVID-19 treatments and vaccines in collaboration with the Hokkaido University Research Center for Zoonosis Control.

Shionogi subsidiary UMN Pharma is developing a potential vaccine based on recombinant proteins. The project is supported by Japan’s Agency for Medical Research and Development.

Shionogi plans to start clinical trials of the vaccine in Japan later this year.
