Abbott Says Research Confirms Accuracy of COVID-19 Antibody Test

Abbott said researchers at the University of Washington showed its new, lab-based antibody blood test for COVID-19 has high specificity and 100 percent sensitivity.

The researchers tested 689 serum samples from 125 confirmed COVID-19 cases and found 100 percent sensitivity at 17 days or more after symptoms began in the patients.

Data from the tests could help uncover new insights, the company said, as hospitals and reference laboratories begin to implement antibody testing, including the prevalence of the virus at local, state or country-wide levels.
