Roche Gains CE Mark for Blood Gas Digital Diagnostic
May 19, 2020
Roche has received a CE mark for its Roche v-TAC blood gas analyzer, which uses blood samples drawn from veins rather than arteries and then converts the measurements into arterial blood gas values.
The diagnostic can help to more quickly assess the severity of disease in COVID-19 patients, the company said.
Blood gas analysers are used in point-of-care settings, such as emergency rooms, intensive care units and operating rooms, to measure pulmonary function. Drawing blood from veins is less painful for patients and requires less staff training, Roche said.
