FDA Allows Emergency Use of Infusion Pumps for COVID-19 Response

The FDA has issued a general Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for infusion pumps and pump accessories to increase their availability during the coronavirus pandemic.

The devices have been increasingly in demand for continuous infusion of COVID-19 patients with drugs, parenteral nutrition and other fluids.

The authorization includes pumps with remote monitoring technology, remote manual control features and other accessories that allow them to be used at a distance.
