G Medical’s ECG Patch Receives Emergency Use Authorization

May 21, 2020

G Medical Innovations has earned an Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA for its Vital Signs Monitoring System (VSMS) electrocardiogram patch.

The device may be used to remotely monitor the QT intervals — measurements on an electrocardiogram to assess the heart’s electrical properties — in patients undergoing hospital treatment for COVID-19. Longer QT intervals have been linked to fatal arrhythmias.

The company said it will continue to manufacture the patch in Israel, but it also plans to produce the device at its Guangzhou, China, plant.
