U.S. Gives AstraZeneca $1.2 Billion to Manufacture COVID-19 Vaccine

The U.S. government is giving AstraZeneca up to $1.2 billion to manufacture a COVID-19 vaccine it is developing with the University of Oxford.

The UK-based drugmaker is partnering with HHS to make at least 300 million doses of the vaccine AZD1222. The funding will go toward development, production and delivery of at least 300 million doses.

The first doses are expected to be delivered as early as October.
