Novavax Initiates Human Trial of COVID-19 Vaccine in Australia

Novavax has begun a phase 1/2 trial of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, NVX‑CoV2373, in Australia.

The phase 1 portion will evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of the vaccine with and without an adjuvant. The trial will recruit 130 healthy participants ages 18 to 59 years at two sites.

The phase 2 trial is expected to be conducted in multiple countries, including the U.S., to assess immunity, safety and disease reduction in a broader age range. Preliminary results from the phase 1 trial are expected in July.
