Study Finds Biomarkers in COVID-19 Patients That Could Predict Severity
June 3, 2020
European researchers have announced that they have identified more than two dozen potential biomarkers that could be used in assays to identify how ill a COVID-19 patient will become.
Researchers from London’s Francis Crick Institute and Berlin’s Charité Universitätsmedizin said they have found 27 biomarkers — including some proteins not previously linked to COVID-19 — that appeared differently in patients depending on the severity of their disease.
The scientists said their findings, reported in the journal Cell Systems, could support the development of routine assays for clinical patient assessments.
