DNA Genotek, Metabolon Deliver Microbiome Sampling Technology

DNA Genotek and Metabolon have co-developed a device for the collection, storage and shipping of fecal samples for use by metabolite researchers.

The companies claim that the OMNImet GUT, which has not yet been cleared by regulatory agencies, is the first device that allows in-home collection and shipping of samples at ambient temperature. Currently, available devices require samples to be frozen and shipped by cold-chain.

The device offers significant advantages for the recruitment and execution of clinical trials, the companies said.
