Novartis Pays DOJ $729 Million To Settle Kickback Allegations

Novartis has agreed to pay $729 million to settle kickback allegations made by the Department of Justice.

The Swiss drugmaker will pay $678 million to settle allegations that it hosted sham speaker programs and other events to bribe doctors into prescribing its medicines.

The company will also pay $51.25 million to settle allegations that it used charitable foundations to pay patient copays for its multiple sclerosis drug Gilenya (fingolimod) and its cancer drug Afinitor (everolimus).
