Canada’s Medicago Begins Phase 1 Trial of Plant-Based COVID-19 Vaccine

Canadian drugmaker Medicago has begun a phase 1 clinical trial of its plant-based COVID-19 vaccine in healthy volunteers.

The trial will evaluate the vaccine in 180 healthy male and female subjects ages 18-55 at three different dosage levels of the vaccine, either alone or with adjuvants from GlaxoSmithKline and Dynavax.

Medicago plans to begin a phase 2/3 trial of the vaccine in October.
